The German Shorthair is energetic, smart and willing to please his family, and he likes children. He is loyal and protective, and willing to please, especially if one is carrying a leash, car keys, Frisbee or other toys. These are people oriented dogs, not happy if isolated from their family, but he needs enough exercise to be a settled family companion, so walks and plenty of play are in order.
