Its conformation should indicate power, endurance, agility, and a look of intelligence and animation. The German Shorthaired Pointer is a medium sized dog. He is graceful looking, with clean-cut head, sloping shoulders, deep breast, a powerful back, strong quarters, good bone, with adequate muscle, well-carried tail, and taut coat all of which should combine to produce a look of nobility. The German Shorthaired Pointer is renowned as an all-purpose hunting dog. His nose is very keen and his eyes and mind sharp. This obedient, webbed footed friend will trail, point and retrieve, on land or in icy waters. German Shorthaired Pointers require a larger size home and fair amount of exercise. They are friendly, intelligent, good watchdogs, and willing to please.
